The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Grandma's Garden

Ten tulips
Tipped towards the light
Nine violets
Royal hues delight
Eight irises
Sprouting from the ground
Seven sunflowers
Laugh without a sound
Six sweet peas
Tremble in the air
Five foxgloves
Elegant and fair
Four hellebores
Pure and heaven-made
Three peonies
Resting in the shade
Two hungry deer
Traveling all day
One panicked Grandma
Shooing them away
