Giant Ideas
(based on London’s amazing skyscrapers)a straight line, a curved line, a squiggly line
all contained in the graphite of my pencil
an idea sublime all contained in my pencil
Could I use my pencil to replicate a flower?
make observations from a sketch of The Tulip Tower,
draft a triangle, a skyscraper, or me inside the London Eye
I’ll draw some yummy snacks!
a tessellation of rhombi magnificently spiraling -
I could sketch The Gherkin for snacking, or a triangle
of glass - the shard could be formed into my Giant’s drinking glass
I’ll pencil a Walkie Talkie and talk to my Giant and my friends
and etch a scalpel perhaps my Giant will need a doctor
he could recover in a Giant’s throne seated on Jenga Tower
perhaps he’ll need roof sized pringle for snacking,
and a cheesegrater to grate more cheese for protein,
and now I’m hungry so I’ll design a gargantuan Can of Ham,
and my Giant could throw a Boomerang for activity
and maybe my giant needs a pet, I’ll pencil an Armadillo
I might sketch a roof made of mushrooms, and seashells,
the marvelous views from viewing decks and galleries
all contained in the graphite of my pencil.
Perhaps the first skyscraper sketches
were inside the graphite of an architect's pencil.
As for the first Giants I’m uhhh…not really certain
but my ideas about London are gigantic
when I use my giant perspective!
all contained in the graphite of my pencil
an idea sublime all contained in my pencil
Could I use my pencil to replicate a flower?
make observations from a sketch of The Tulip Tower,
draft a triangle, a skyscraper, or me inside the London Eye
