The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Floordrobe

Listen to Jacqueline read her poem ...
Why use a wardrobe?
The carpet works fine!
Why waste your cash
On a box made of pine?
Not got enough dresses?
Just buy a few more!
There’s no limit to what
You can fit on the floor.
Don’t spend precious time
Putting clothing away
When there’s just so much more
You can do with your day.
Yes, my bedroom’s a tip,
I have to agree,
‘Cause my wardrobe’s a floordrobe,
But that’s fine by me!

About the Writer

Jacqueline Shirtliff

Jacqueline is a poet and primary school teacher on the Isle of Man. One of her favourite things is helping children to love poetry and reading and encouraging them to be writers themselves.
