Fallen Tree
When did this tree fall?
Was I just brand-new?
How did all the big, thick roots
let go of where they grew?
How did it happen then
that tiny flowers grew
and bugs and birdies came to play
in grasses old and new?
I think it just got tired
of standing tall and crowned
so it made a home for everything
that lives close to the ground.
