The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Diameter

The sun Invites
cicadas to Watch
the dust from desert storms Fall
rain to Drizzle Drizzle
summers mud to Craze
mirror bush leaves to Turn
morning dew to Scatter
light to Fall Soft Soft until
the Slow Setting sun Leads
the moon and the barn owl to Call Sleep
the dreams of children Questions
Blown across Shadows of sand
and foxes Whispering Why?
the bamboo Grows So.
