Dad’s London Drive
One night, when I couldn’t sleep,
Because my head was full of dreams,
My dad took me out for a drive …
He said, ‘We’re going to go for a fly drive around the world!’
We drove through Manor House, he said, ‘This is the Bosphorus’,
We drove around Brick Lane, he said ‘This the Bay of Bengal’,
We drove through Brixton, he said, ‘This is Dun’s River Falls’,
We drove down Bayswater, he smiled, ‘This is the Great Sugarloaf Mountain of Brazil,
Then we drove to our little home on the hill,
‘We’ve landed!’ he said.
The next morning my teacher asked me what I had done the day before.
‘I travelled and saw the beauty of the world’ I replied.
She didn’t believe me- but it was true …
