Daddy Long Legs
Can you spot them,
as we trundle past?
Can you see them,
rise from tufts of grass?
Look, they fly
like dandelion seeds!
Watch their legs move,
tickling the breeze!
See how far
their gangly legs can stretch,
thin as pencil lines –
a living sketch.
And their wings
are pale as wisps of hair.
Can you see them
glimmer in the air?
Soon they’ll leave
with summer’s dying light.
Watch them flit
like fairies out of sight.
