Crisps My Companion

The crinkle of your foil bag,
floating atop my trolley
balancing, jiggling, comforting.
Your puff of nitrogen and
first whiff of salt and vinegar
Your freshness guaranteed,
the register beeps
we're destined for one another
out of the trolley
groceries into the boot
but crisps my companion my loot,
my passenger beside me
you crunch when I’m stressed,
Who goes to such lengths but my crisps?!
“Did you forget the crisps?”
“Ummm back in a jiff!”
