The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Colour the Park

Listen to Julie ...
Orange footballs, my best friends,
they bounce you to the park.

Red t-shirts, my favourite badge,
they wear you to the park.

Yellow boots, laces loose,
they stomp all the way to the park.

Blue water bottles, full of energy,
hear them splosh, as they jog to the park.

Smelly red socks, played yesterday,
they stink all the way to the park.

Red shorts, legs love mud,
they kick the dirt near the park.

Amy’s purple whistle, ref lost his,
hear her blast all the way to the park.

Silver wheelchair, trying to keep up,
they push me to the park.

Pink smiles, rising fast,
they score a goal at the park.

Watching and wishing, I could join in,
mine is the loudest cheer at the park!
