The Dirigible Balloon

Caterpillars

Not the very hungry kind,
but yellow hulks with gears.
Skid steers, dozers, excavators,
planned by engineers.

They topple walls, assist in rescues,
scoop and pave the roads,
power ships, and dig through rubble,
lift up heavy loads.

A second home to operators,
hard hats, and bright vests,
with joysticks, pedals, knobs, and screens
successful in their quests.

Slow as insect counterparts
creeping on their track.
They mine, construct, and drill for oil,
with gravel as their snack.
