Beautiful Butterflies
The colour of butter,
a Brimstone, in Spring.
Fluttering butterfly,
first on the wing.
Graylings and Speckled Woods
brighten the sky
through parklands and forests,
as summer comes by.
Peacocks and Orange Tips,
Tortoiseshells too.
Commas, Red Admirals.
Beautiful Blues.
A rainbow of Swallowtails,
dazzling in flight.
Small Coppers darting,
catching the light.
Cabbage Whites, Marbled Whites
Commas, and all.
Bask in the sun
on our garden wall.
Flowers have opened
to give up their yields
of nectar and pollen,
in gardens, and fields.
Beautiful butterflies,
fluttering, free.
Without them, each year,
where would the world be?
a Brimstone, in Spring.
Fluttering butterfly,
first on the wing.
Graylings and Speckled Woods
brighten the sky
through parklands and forests,
as summer comes by.
Peacocks and Orange Tips,
Tortoiseshells too.
Commas, Red Admirals.
Beautiful Blues.
A rainbow of Swallowtails,
dazzling in flight.
Small Coppers darting,
catching the light.
Cabbage Whites, Marbled Whites
Commas, and all.
Bask in the sun
on our garden wall.
Flowers have opened
to give up their yields
of nectar and pollen,
in gardens, and fields.
Beautiful butterflies,
fluttering, free.
Without them, each year,
where would the world be?
