At Sunrise
A blackbird fidgets on the fence
like a black suited commuter
impatient for the first bus.
The flat clouds glint orange
like brand new pennies, spilling
into the till, ready for change.
The apple tree sways
like a dancer limbering up
for the gala opening.
The sun makes its appearance
like a movie star emerging
from a dark limousine to flash
a golden smile upon the waiting world.
like a black suited commuter
impatient for the first bus.
The flat clouds glint orange
like brand new pennies, spilling
into the till, ready for change.
The apple tree sways
like a dancer limbering up
for the gala opening.
The sun makes its appearance
like a movie star emerging
from a dark limousine to flash
a golden smile upon the waiting world.
