Albatross Dreaming
Bill tucked under a downy wing
the albatross chick
sleeps.
Does it dream
of stretching its wings
catching the wind
gliding off in the gale
beginning its life
between sky and sea?
Does it dream
of its wandering years
a nomad of oceans
skimming the seas
circling the globe
remote and alone?
Bill tucked under a downy wing
the albatross chick
stirs.
the albatross chick
sleeps.
Does it dream
of stretching its wings
catching the wind
gliding off in the gale
beginning its life
between sky and sea?
Does it dream
of its wandering years
a nomad of oceans
skimming the seas
circling the globe
remote and alone?
Bill tucked under a downy wing
the albatross chick
stirs.
