Across May Skies

each warm, wet spring,
and cheer their parade
across May skies,
their bright cheery song
at dawn and dusk
brings warmth and joy
no matter their size,
from tiny and terrific
to mighty and magnificent,
in hues of bright blue,
shy shades of brown,
and orange, and red
and lemon yellow too,
it is the spring birds
who shine in lovely flight,
who make my heart light,
who are an absolute delight.
