About Face
Posing for my picture, I watch you sketch my face,
trying to be still and keep a flawless smile in place.
Will you paint me beautiful, or exactly what you see?
I know I am not perfect, but I’m happy being me!
I’m not allowed to peek, yet, at your masterpiece,
But I’m getting quite impatient sitting on this wooden seat!
Trying not to jiggle, to wriggle or to move -
I’m not a natural model, but I’m getting in the groove!
I wonder if you’ll capture my grin, with missing teeth -
will you paint my skin or show what’s hidden underneath?
A special kind of bond is built, as you paint my portrait
May I have a glimpse please - I don’t think I can wait!
trying to be still and keep a flawless smile in place.
