A Little Nonsense

‘You’re a little nonsense,’ my Granny says to me.
I love a bit of nonsense, it’s the best way to be.

I put my shoes upon my head, and rings upon my toes.
I like to read while upside down, turn pages with my nose.

I wear my jumper inside out, don’t like my socks to match.
And when we go out shopping, I wear a black eye-patch. Aaaarrrrrr!

I love a bit of nonsense but I think I’m on my own.
Mum prefers to sit and read, and Dad prefers his phone.

But they don’t get it - nonsense makes me feel as if I’m free!
I love a bit of nonsense, it’s the best way to be.

But what is this? It’s Granny and she’s wiggling her bum!
She’s using spoons and ladles to pretend she has a drum.

Granny sees me watching and she grabs me by the hand.
She’s swinging me, she sings off-key as if she’s in a band.

We’re dancing in the kitchen, we wave our arms around.
We bang on pans, we shake tin cans, we make a silly sound!

Until we’re both exhausted and we flop onto the floor.
But soon we’re back up on our feet, we’re ready for some more!

‘You’re a little nonsense,' my Granny says with glee.
‘I love a bit of nonsense too, you’re Just Like Me!’
