A Letter from Santa

You know I love each little kid and every big one, too.
And nothing makes me happier than bringing gifts to you.
But now I have to tell you, and I hope this won’t seem strange,
That Santa’s sick of cookies! So, it’s time to make a change.

For centuries, I’ve taken flight each year on Christmas Eve
And given Christmas presents to the children who believe.
And every house I visit leaves me milk and cookies, too
But this year, kids, I beg you: why not try out something new?

Like bundt cake or a cherry pie to eat while on my trip?
Why not a dish of hummus with some vegetables to dip?
I’m very fond of buttered toast with just a bit of jam.
I’ll have a piece of chicken, or a sandwich made with ham.

I know, you think I’m silly to be making this request.
You’re thinking, “Doesn’t Santa know that cookies are the best?”
And, yes, it’s true that cookies are some pretty yummy stuff…
But I’ve eaten several million and I think that that’s enough!

Don’t think that I’m not grateful for the snacks you leave for me.
I’m only saying that I’d like some more variety.
Well, now I’ve got that off my chest; I have to go because
I’ve got a lot of work to do. Sincerely, Santa Claus.
