A Fruit Bowl of Sayings
Why do we blow raspberries
not blueberries or blackcurrants?
Why is life a bowl of cherries,
not easy-peel satsumas?
Why when something goes wrong
has it gone pear-shaped?
Why if I’m feeling jealous
is that sour grapes?
Why do you not give a fig
when you just don’t care?
Why am I the apple
of my granny’s eye?
Why is fruit so juicy
tangy, sweet and tasty
grabbed from the bowl
to describe other things?
not blueberries or blackcurrants?
Why is life a bowl of cherries,
not easy-peel satsumas?
Why when something goes wrong
has it gone pear-shaped?
Why if I’m feeling jealous
is that sour grapes?
Why do you not give a fig
when you just don’t care?
Why am I the apple
of my granny’s eye?
Why is fruit so juicy
tangy, sweet and tasty
grabbed from the bowl
to describe other things?
